Philadelphia has gotten off to a 2-0 start with wins over New England and Minnesota, and they’re favored to move to 3-0 on the road on Monday.

Eagles vs. Buccaneers Analysis and Prediction
The Bucs are arguably the most surprising of the NFL’s nine 2-0 teams. With Baker Mayfield under center and Todd Bowles as head coach, many expected Tampa to contend for the top spot in the 2024 NFL Draft. Instead, this team is undefeated after it took down the Vikings on the road in Week 1 and beat Chicago at home in Week 2.
Mayfield’s basic numbers through two games have been solid — he has completed 47-0f-68 passes for 490 yards, three touchdowns, and 0 interceptions — and advanced stats show he’s been outstanding under pressure. According to Underdog Fantasy’s Josh Norris, Mayfield has completed a league-best 87% of his third-down passes for 201 yards and two touchdowns, and through two games, he’s also been the top passer in the league when pressured (71.5% completion rate).
His success under offensive coordinator Dave Canales has been one of the biggest stories of the year to date. One big reason is Mayfield’s impressive chemistry with 30-year-old receiver Mike Evans. The 6-foot-5 veteran’s 12 catches for 237 yards and two TDs are among the best numbers of any receiver in the NFL. Just three players have more receiving yards, and only Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill has more than Evans’ two TDs.
The Eagles once again look like one of the best teams in the league thanks to their running game and defensive line. However, the secondary looked vulnerable against Kirk Cousins and the Vikings in Week 2.
With cornerback James Bradberry and safety Reed Blankenship out due to injury, Cousins took advantage of several breakdowns in the Philly defensive backfield while throwing for 364 yards and four touchdowns. If not for four lost fumbles by the Vikings, including one by Justin Jefferson inches from the Eagles’ goal line, Philadelphia might be 1-1 right now.
The Eagles are expected to have Bradberry and Blankenship this week, but they’ll be without corner Avonte Maddox, who could miss the rest of the season with a torn pec.
Against Tampa, expect another big night from Jalen Hurts and the Eagles’ running game, especially after D’Andre Swift‘s dominant showing against the Vikings. On the other side of the ball, Mayfield, Evans, and Chris Godwin will be able to move the ball as long as the Bucs’ O-line can hold up against the imposing Philadelphia pass rush.
The Buccaneers will score enough to keep this game close, but I don’t think they can quite pull the upset.
Pick: Buccaneers +5 (Live Line: )
