Two members of the same family won nearly half a million
dollars playing video keno at the El Cortez last week.

“The first hit occurred when Ramon (a 25-year-old Las
Vegas resident) caught 9-out-of-9 for a keno jackpot of $60,000,” said El
Cortez Slot Director Rick Ronca. “Two days later, Ramon’s grandmother hit
a 10-out-of-10 video keno progressive jackpot for $385,000.”

Both jackpots were won playing 25¡ video keno (maximum of
four coins or $1 bet), Ronca said. The winning machines were among the older IGT
Fortune keno machines that have been retired at most other Las Vegas casinos.

“The best part of the story is how many family members
got to enjoy the jackpot,” said El Cortez General Manager Mike Nolan.
“There were already 20 family members (celebrating the $60,000 hit) when
Maria caught the big jackpot. They divided up the money among themselves before
they left the casino. It was really wonderful to watch.” —David
