This week I got to try a brand new restaurant and bar in downtown Las Vegas (520 E. Fremont Street) called Eureka! If you haven’t been downtown lately you really are missing out. The d’town scene continues to grow and has become one of the hip places to hangout and party in Las Vegas.
Excuse the pun but Eureka! has struck Gold with their restaurant concept, providing great food with a huge selection of craft beer and artisan liquor. I’m not a beer guy so before I recommend anyplace and it’s beer I make sure to have the approval of my resident beer guy Marc. When he approves of a bar’s craft beer list I know it’s good.
The list at Eureka! is clearly the finest downtown has to offer and one of the best around the entire Las Vegas valley. They have 40 different craft beers on tap for your enjoyment. If you are into harder beverages they have entire Whisky Book with bourbons, ryes, and single malts. Be sure to check out their signature cocktails.
I had a drink called The Electric Butterfly that was a tasty concoction of brandy, rum, Butterfly Pea Tea, lime and a buzz button. Until I had this drink I had no idea the Buzz Button is a little flower bud served on a skewer sitting on top of your drink. Before sipping your drink you actually eat the flower. This causes a sensation in your mouth that lasts for 8-10 minutes. Your mouth will become all tingly and it will heighten your taste buds. To put it in simple terms, it’s like a little high for your mouth and hence the name buzz buttons. It’s something you should experience.
Eureka! would be a cool place to just hang out with friends and drink even if that’s all they offered but there’s a fantastic food line up with some eclectic dishes. I had an appetizer I absolutely loved. If you go, be sure to try the Osso Buco Riblets. They are sherry braised pork riblets that are slow cooked and finished in a sauce very similar to a buffalo wing sauce. This appetizer was absolutely amazing and one of the more original items I have tasted in a while. Try them, you’ll thank me later.
For my entrée I went with the Bone Marrow Burger. It was so flavorful; it comes with shitake bone marrow butter on top of the burger and a charbroiled onion slice underneath along with a roasted Roma tomato. The combination of flavors complimented each other and made for a great burger experience. My buddy had the 28-day dry aged Angus burger. These cows were never fed grain as they were raised on only grass and carrots. This makes the meat extra lean and lower in cholesterol for a healthier burger.
Be sure to save room for dessert. They have one called Bourbon Barrel Cake, a warm cake with pecans and caramel sauce served with vanilla bean ice cream. A perfect ending to your meal and I highly recommend it.
If you just want to hang out in the bar area there are plenty of TV’s to catch a game and some adult beverages. If you are looking for a cool place to hang out down on Fremont Street Eureka! is the place.
The staff is every friendly and very knowledgeable about the food and beer menus. I give Eureka! 3.75 Forks out of 4.
