If you have been in Las Vegas for any amount of time chances are you’ve eaten at Nora’s Italian Cuisine. When I moved here eight years ago this was one of the first Italian restaurants I tried.
It is a family-owned operation that was started by Nora and Gino Mauro. The success has grown over the years. In fact, it has grown so much that just recently they opened up their new bigger location.
Don’t worry, if you have been to the old location you won’t have any trouble finding it as they moved just 900 feet away. They built a beautiful new building at 5780 West Flamingo Road. This past week the wife and I went with another couple. Make reservations as it was a Tuesday and the place was packed. I guess the saying is true, if you build it they will come.
One of the traditions at Nora’s is after you get seated and order drinks they bring you out a complimentary basket of garlic bread. Warning – the garlic bread can be addicting. My buddy and I started with an order of their Italian Wings as an appetizer.
The Italian Wings were done in a garlic and oil sauce with Parmesan cheese. One of my other favorite appetizers is their Mozzarella Caprese. The fresh mozzarella is so good and goes so well with the garlic.
For my entrée I went with Veal Marsala, which was excellent. The veal was very tender and their Marsala sauce was spot on. They served it with a side of spaghetti. I upgraded to their meat sauce on my pasta.
As my regular followers know, I’m very picky about my spaghetti sauce and, honestly, Nora’s is one of my favorite in the city. Lori had Chicken Parmigiana and a side of spaghetti, which she enjoyed.
Some of my other favorites I’ve had at Nora’s are the Crazy Alfredo. This is a twist on the classic Alfredo dish. They add chicken, sausage, jumbo shrimp, porcini mushrooms, roasted bell peppers, sun-dried tomatoes and jalapeños. This pasta dish has some bite to it but is bursting with flavor.
Another favorite is the Bone in Veal Chop Parmigiana served with sautéed spinach. My wife is a big fan of Nora’s Meat Lasagna. If she doesn’t order Chicken Parm it’s the lasagna.
When you get a whiff of a pizza coming right out of the oven you just can’t help but want a slice. Stopping at Nora’s is always a nice option before or after catching a movie. Pizza, movie and dessert make for a great date night.
I would highly recommend saving room for dessert as they always have a very nice assortment each night. I can tell you from past visits they are very good.
Put Nora’s on your list as the Mauro family has been serving us home-style Italian since 1991. If you are a regular from their old location, boy, are you going to love their new place. Our service was excellent and the prices are very reasonable for upscale Italian food. I give Nora’s Italian Cuisine a rating of 3.75 Forks.
