Since this is my first article of the New Year I wanted to take a look back at 2013 and put together a list of some of my favorite restaurants. We are fortunate to have so many great places to eat in Las Vegas.

Best Steakhouse – Del Frisco’s: This one has been my favorite for a long time. Del Frisco’s is a classic steakhouse that delivers every time. The steaks are always cooked to perfection and they serve only the highest quality meats.

Remember, my dad owned a meat packing plant and in my early years I was a cutter. When it comes to meat I know what I’m talking about. When you go there add the crab cakes to your order as these are the best in the city. Del Frisco’s is located at 3925 Paradise Rd.

Best Italian – Il Mulino’s: A must if you love Italian food and you want to make your meal an event. From the time you sit down and are greeted with complimentary offerings from the chef to a glass of grappa after your meal you will not be disappointed.

The food is amazing and the service outstanding. Il Mulino is a great place for a romantic dinner on the Strip. It’s located at the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace.

Best New Restaurant – Adiamo Italian Steakhouse: I have been to this restaurant more than any other as this was my favorite by far. They combined two of my favorite foods – steak and Italian. Now I don’t have to choose between the two as I’m covered no matter what I’m feeling that night. The steaks are of the finest quality you will find anywhere.

Adiamo’s offers a wide selection of Italian dishes as well. What’s nice is if you do go with a steak the chef sends out a complimentary dish of pasta for you to try between your salad course and prior to the main entrée.

I love the concept and the décor – and the service is impeccable! It is located downtown inside the D on Fremont Street.

Best Burger – Grind Burger Bar: This may have been one of the toughest ones to call as we have so many. For me, my favorite is Grind Burger Bar and Lounge. I attend a lot of UNLV games at Thomas & Mack and this place is so convenient to stop at following a game or event.

I love that you get to build your burger just the way you want it, cooked at just the temperature you want. Plan on using both hands as the burgers here are big. Grind Burger Bar and Lounge is located at 360 E. Tropicana Ave.

Best BBQ – Rolling Smoke BBQ: This is not a fancy restaurant by any means, but if you’re looking for great BBQ head down to 3185 Highland Dr. As you drive by you will smell the smoker out in the parking lot.

The smell will lure you in and the food will keep you coming back for more. This is just an old fashion great BBQ place – no thrills just great BBQ.

Best Pizza – Pizza Rock: It just opened a few months ago but they impressed me with their pizzas. They don’t make pizza only one way; they have several different styles of pizza so no matter if you like thick, thin or Sicilian you will find a pizza that suits your style and taste. Pizza Rock is located downtown at 201 N. 3rd St.

I hope the New Year brings everyone health, happiness and prosperity.
