I find myself heading downtown more and more as it continues to grow with lots of new hip places to hang out. One is Flock & Fowl located in the Ogden Building at 150 N. Las Vegas Blvd.
Flock & Fowl is the creation of Chef Sheridan Su and his wife Jenny Wong. If you have ever been to Fat Choy inside the Eureka Casino then you know his work, as he was the creator of that great restaurant as well. The menu, as you can tell from the name of the restaurant, is all about chicken.
On my visit I started out with an order of edamame with a sweet chile sauce. This is always a great start to any meal and these were spot on. Next I had to try an order of Chicken Wings. I mean I can’t go to a chicken place and not get wings, right? I got the Honey Butter flavor and these were so good I almost ordered seconds. The wings were cooked nice and crispy while the honey butter sauce was just amazing. I will be back for more of these for sure.
Next up I decided to try their All Natural Cheeseburger. I know, this is place known for its chicken dishes and I’m ordering a burger. What’s up with that! Well, to be honest, as I walked in and was taken to my table I passed a table where a guy was eating a burger and I have to tell you, based on the smell and look I was having one. My stomach over ruled my head on this visit. The burger was a fresh 8 oz. hand-formed patty with soy-glazed mushrooms, caramelized onions and house slaw. It was so good and very satisfying.
I have to go back again to try their signature dish the Hainanese Chicken & Rice. They serve Mary’s Free Range Chicken, with fat rice, cucumbers, pickled mustard greens and a choice of two side dishes. This is the dish that has regulars coming back time and time again.
Finally, save room for dessert as they have their cast iron Chocolate Chip Cookie. The name says it all, as Flock & Fowl freshly bakes a chocolate chip cookie in a cast iron skillet then serves it hot with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce. Warning: This is so good you may want a nap after you finish it but it’s so worth it.
Flock & Fowl has a great vibe and is a cool place to hang out, have drinks and grab a bite to eat with friends. The wait staff is very friendly and attentive to all your needs. I give Flock & Fowl 3.50 Forks out of 4.
