It has been a while since we wrote about a pizza place. So this week, I tried a new place.

Brooklyn’s Best Pizza and Pasta, located at 5270 S. Fort Apache, Suite 320, just opened a couple weeks ago. I made two visits here inside of a week so that must tell you I liked it. On my first visit, I didn’t go with pizza. I ordered pasta as they had a nice selection to choose from. In fact, the selection was so good that I couldn’t decide what I wanted.

I got a dish called “Tour of Brooklyn” and my problem was solved. The Tour of Brooklyn had three different dishes: Fettuccine Alfredo, Lasagna and Chicken Parmesan. The Chicken Parm had a side of pasta with it as well so I actually got to try four different things on one dish.

This dish was $18.95 and worth every penny. I had enough left over for lunch the next day. All four items were good, but my two favorites were the Chicken Parm and the Fettuccine Alfredo.

On my second visit I ordered a pizza to take home. They have several specialty pizzas, but I went with a build-your-own. My usual is pepperoni, mushrooms, onions and black olives. The pizza was good, and the dough was excellent.

They do one thing different with their pizzas as they put the sauce on top of the toppings rather than the traditional way of sauce first on top of the dough. I’m not saying I didn’t like it that way, but it was different than I’m used to.

They sell slices all day long as well so I will be trying a slice of the thick cut Sicilian on a future visit which will happen very soon.

As much as I liked their pizza dough, I also want to try one of their Stromboli’s as with that dough they can’t help but to be good.

Save room for dessert as they have New York cheesecake, carrot cake, cannoli, tiramisu and homemade zeppoli. I have to admit I might be addicted to zeppolis.

The portions were all good size and the prices were very reasonable. All of the staff – both the waitresses and the guys slinging the pizzas – were very friendly. I give Brooklyn’s Best Pizza & Pasta 3.75 Forks.
