Del Mar Race 7

The Grade 2 Del Mar Mile on the grass. This is a very contentious race, thus a case for a winner can be made for over half of the field. That’s why my top choice is a flyer on No. 1 Prince Earl. He’s the “other” Phil D’Amato horse. Although he’s off an 8-month break, the clocker reports were quite favorable. He draws well and has won here before. No. 10 Sharp Samurai has a nice sheet pattern and an affinity for Del Mar. He certainly belongs in the mix. No. 5 Bowies Hero will be the favorite for the aforementioned D’Amato. He won the Grade 2 race here in July and ran a huge number. This stable used the same schedule last year and it failed for this race. We’re also concerned about a “bounce” after that last race. We’ll defensively use.

My Pick: Win/Place 1 Exacta Box 1-5-10 Trifecta Box 1-5-10-11
