The college football season begins in full swing this Thursday and we will be making some key selections that you can bet straight or just add to your parlay cards.

First of all we will take a look at some of last week’s line moves to see how they did.

Last Thursday the Dolphins opened as a -2.5 point favorite over the visiting Falcons and the money came on the Falcons as the line went to a pick. Miami won, 17-6, and the books got all the moolah. Yes, those who put out parlay cards on Wednesday like South Point, Caesars and Arizona Charlie’s got the money.

On Friday the Saints opened up as a -1.5 point favorite over the Steelers and it was bet up to -3. The underdog Steelers crushed them, 27-14, and the books got more cash. One game the books did not do well with was on Sunday. The money came in on the Vikings as it was bet from -4 to -6. Minnie got the cash – one for the bettors.

Thursday, Sept. 1

Charlotte +39 at Louisville: This bettor does not usually lay this amount of wood but in this case I will use the Cardinals as they have gone 7-0 ATS as non-conference favorites of 14 or more points. The 49ers from Charlotte have gone 0-6-2 ATS the last eight times they have been double digit dogs. Look for Louisville QB Lamar Jackson to have a huge day. LOUISVILLE.

Friday, Sept. 2

Kansas St. +16 at Stanford: Taking this many points with the Wildcats really looks like a gift. The Cats from Manhattan have gone 7-0 ATS as a road dog of 7 or more points. We also remember when Stanford played Northwestern in their first game last year. The Cardinal were a -10 point favorite and NW beat them 16-6. We love K-State in a close game. KANSAS ST.

Saturday, Sept. 3

Hawaii +41.5 at Michigan: The coaches and players for the Rainbow Warriors must want to know who made this schedule as they flew from Honolulu last week to Sydney and then from Sydney to Ann Arbor. These guys won’t know what day or time it is when this game starts. If California could beat them by 20, well the Wolverines can name the score in this game. We will lay the big spread hoping Jim Harbaugh does not call off the dogs, and even if he does they could still cover. MICHIGAN.

W. Michigan +6 at N’western: Speaking of Northwestern we get them vs. the MAC toughie Broncos. We would have loved to get Western at +7 but we will take the +6. The Wildcats from Evanston have not fared well vs. the MAC, going 0-7 ATS in the last seven matchups. We will take the points. WESTERN MICHIGAN.

Clemson -7 at Auburn: This will be one to watch as the Tigers start to try and claw their way back to the national championship game. They will be led again by super QB Deshaun Watson, who can both run and pass. Auburn will be hard pressed to keep up with him plus War Eagle has gone 0-5 ATS vs. non-conference teams that Vegas booked. CLEMSON.

LSU -9.5 vs. Wisconsin: Many handicappers and prognosticators have picked LSU to go all the way with super running back and Heisman favorite Leonard Fournette. LSU will have one of if not the best defense in the country. The only thing that can stop them is if Fournette gets hurt, and he did have a little set back in practice. The word is he is ok so we will lay the points and hope Les Miles does not try and over coach. LSU.

Oklahoma -10 vs. Houston: Huge game for the Cougars who lost just one game last year and that was when their star QB Greg Ward was out. The Sooners may just overlook these guys who have gone 10-0-1 ATS when getting points the last four years. The Sooners want to stay healthy as they get UL-Monroe next week before the big game with Ohio State on 9/17. We will take the points in what should be a good game. HOUSTON.

NFL preseason

Thursday, Sept. 1

Bills +3 at Lions: In dangerous Week 4 we find a great play in the Lions, who are 12-0 SU/ATS vs. the AFC. Plus the Bills have gone 0-8 SU/ATS in their last preseason game the past four years. LIONS.

Horse sense

Here at GT we pride ourselves with news you can bet on and not just sports but also horses. Two Sundays ago Jon Lindo, who puts out the popular horse handicapping sheet at the Boyd Group properties, had his top pick win in nine straight races with an average payoff of $6.91. You can get his handicapping sheet every day at any Boyd Group racebook.

At Station properties you can also get the popular Jerry J handicapping sheet in their racebooks. It’s just a few things our great race and sportsbooks do for their players. Lest I forget, you can also get Pat McQuiggan’s handicapping sheet at the South Point and you can also join Pat in his team bets at the South Point.

You can hear all of us on “RaceDayLasVegas” radio show this Wednesday and get a few picks. You just never know, we all could be walking around lucky and not even know it.
