As my bad streak continued in this column last week we will cover two more rules of betting for all our new readers and new bettors.

We covered rules No. 1 and No. 2 last week and now we will look at rules No. 3 and No. 4, both of which this bettor learned from my dad, “Broadway” Bennie Saber, from our little road trips to then Waterford Park which is now Mountaineer Park.

Bennie never drove a car and either my mom, my brother or I would need to take him to the track every night for the 7:15 post.

I was 16 years old when I first started to bet the ponies at Waterford and my dad, who always sat in the back seat, told me with a very stern face:

No. 3 – Never borrow money to make a bet!

No. 4 – Never use your bill money to make a bet!

Now we have set the groundwork to move forward, make our bets with our gambling money, have some fun, and now and then make a few bucks.

Let us move on and see if we can turn things around in this column.

College Plays

Saturday, Sept. 29

Ohio State -3.5 at Penn State: This is the game of the week and a huge revenge game for the Nittany Lions who blew a big lead last year in Columbus only to lose late, 39-38. Head coach Franklin and his team have had this game circled for months. If you have ever seen a “white out” in State College, Pa., tune this game in and you will see a spectacle, the stands will be pure white and loud. This game will be close all the way, take the points with the Lions at home. PENN ST

West Virginia -3.5 at Texas Tech: The Red Raiders from Lubbock, Texas are looking for revenge from last year’s 46-35 loss in Morgantown. This will be another real battle and a close game; we will take the home revenging dog. TEXAS TECH

Florida +7 at Mississippi State: The Gators have LSU next week but this is the game they really need. They have the offense to make it close and catch the Bulldogs off a road loss at Kentucky last week, a game in which they could only score seven points. FLORIDA

Mississippi +11.5 at LSU: This is a ton of points for this cross state rivalry and Ole Miss looking to make this game closer than last year’s 24-40 loss in Oxford, Miss. This is our trend of the week game as LSU fits a 1-13-2 ATS trend. We will take the points in what will be a closer game than the line indicates. OLE MISS

USC -3.5 at Arizona: The Trojan QB is getting better and we note USC had gone 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings and fit another huge trend of 13-0 ATS as a favorite after giving up 35 or more points in their previous game; they won last week, 39-36. We will lay the -3.5 points on the road with the up and coming young QB. USC

Those of you who were following me on Twitter received my three late plays last Saturday morning. We went 3-0 ATS.

I will once again be giving out three late plays on my Twitter account @RSaberGT.

Don’t use the milk money but get out and make some bets, you could be walking around lucky and not even know it.

Last week: 1-4

Season: 11-19
