Giants vs. Bills Analysis and Predictions
The going’s been tough for the Giants so far in 2023. They only have one tally in the win column, quarterback Daniel Jones has been sacked 28 times, and their defense ranks in the bottom third of the league. They also rank next-to-last on offense in points scored per game and they rack up an average of 6.6 penalties each contest.
The Bills’ season, on the other hand, has been much more promising. Yes, they dropped their Week 1 contest 22-16 to the Jets and then lost their Week 5 battle 25-20 to the Jaguars in London. But the Bills, unlike the Giants, aren’t suffering quarterback woes. Quite the opposite, as a matter of fact.
Buffalo signal-caller Josh Allen has only been sacked nine times, and he’s passed for 1,407 yards and 11 touchdowns. The Bills have the third-best scoring offense in the NFL and the fifth-best overall defense. But even with this early success, BetMGM’s John Ewing reports that the Bills season win total recently dropped from 11.5 to 10.5.
So will Buffalo end up getting loss No. 3 in Week 6?
Not likely.
When it comes to the spread, though, if you’re thinking that 14.5 points is a big number, you might be onto something. Buffalo hasn’t covered in three of its last four matchups. And if you’re eyeing the Over/Under, remember that the Bills’ games have exceeded the Over twice this season.
When it comes to straight-up wins, when these two squads square off, NYG has won three of the last five. So with all this in mind, there are a few spots we actually like in this Sunday Night showdown on NBC.
We’re going with the Over of 44.5 points scored by both teams combined. It’s true; Buffalo has only hit the Over twice this season and the Giants once. But Josh Allen and his offense will likely get out to a fast start as they try to get right after their loss across the pond.
We also like the Giants to cover. It could happen in garbage time or Brian Daboll & Co. might surprise us all and make it a competitive 60 minutes. Either way, 14.5 points is pretty hefty.
And for a player prop – because why not – let’s ride James Cook’s Over rushing yards.
Predictions
• Over 44.5 points scored by both teams combined (Live: )
• Giants +14.5 (Live: )
• James Cook Over 57.5 rushing yards (Live: )
