Half-price steaks at John Cutter Grill

I was out at Red Rock two Saturdays ago and wanted to try someplace new.

I popped into John Cutter Grill (11770 W. Charleston Blvd.) just to grab a burger and a cold one, but my plans took a detour.

My waitress, Taylor, who was very friendly and attentive, asked if I had been there before. When I answered no she told me about the special they have every Saturday. For just $19 you can get an 8 oz. N.Y. Strip and a 6 oz. Lobster Tail. You can add a salad or fries for $4.50 more.

Now that sounded a whole lot better than a burger and fries. Being a local neighborhood tavern my expectations weren’t that high on steak and lobster for $19.

Boy, was I dead wrong.

My steak was cooked to perfection, very tender and flavorful. The lobster was excellent as well. My meal was so good I was asking myself: Did I just get lucky? Surely their steaks can’t be that good at that price all the time? Well, I decided I would go back a second time before doing the review.

The second visit was on a Sunday when the half-price steak special applies. I went with the 18 oz. Bone-In Ribeye, which was cooked and seasoned to perfection. John Cutter Grill is quite a find nestled in a shopping center in Summerlin.

My ribeye would have been well worth the $32 price tag on any other given night, but with the 50% off Steak Sunday this may be the best deal in town.

In fact, this deal is so good I honestly thought about keeping this one to myself because John Cutter Grill is not a big place, and I don’t want to get shut out on a Sunday for steak. But, I couldn’t do that to my followers so I had to share this good thing.

The bar itself has several seats with video poker and several TV’s to catch a game while you play and eat. The décor is rich looking with dark wood everywhere. They have one row of booths (I believe 4 or 5) and then several tables in the middle between the bar and the booths.

There is no divider so no matter where you are sitting you’re basically sitting in the bar. If you don’t like dining in the bar area this may not be the place for you. That would be a shame, because you would be missing out on some amazing steaks.

We also tried their JC Signature Queso Dip as an appetizer. They served the queso with fresh tri-colored tortilla chips along with their homemade chile verde sauce. I highly recommend the queso as an appetizer.

They have a daily happy hour from 2-6 p.m. and then from 12-2 a.m., Monday through Friday, with daily drink specials and $6 appetizers. On Tuesday it’s half-price burgers.

I had no room for dessert, but as I saw one of them go by my table I really wished I did. Their fresh funnel cakes looked and smelled so good that I will be sure to save some room on my next visit.

John Cutter Grill is a nice place to just hang out and have a couple of cold ones. The steaks are really amazing any day of the week but with the 50% off on Sundays this place is a must.
