Charlotte Hornets Betting Preview

In a move that was almost inevitable at this point, the Charlotte Hornets stripped their roster at the deadline. They sent Terry Rozier, PJ Washington, and Gordon Hayward out the door and brought in Grant Williams, Seth Curry, and Tre Mann.

These moves have not made them contenders by any stretch, but they have significantly improved the overall roster, especially on defense. In the four games since the deadline, the Hornets are 4-0, allowing 103.5 points per game.

For the season, Charlotte’s defense ranks towards the bottom in scoring (119.2), shooting percentage (50%), and three-point percentage (38.8%). They could just be in the middle of a hot stretch of play, but the Hornets also hold teams to under 30% shooting from deep and rank fifth in defensive rating over the last four games.

Offensively, they still have some things to sort out, especially with LaMelo Ball’s continued absence. The Hornets already had one of the worst offensives in the NBA with Ball in the lineup, but without him, there is no reliable scoring threat.

There is a chance Ball will suit up for the first time since late January. If he can play, the new-look Hornets may be tough to beat on any given night.

Golden State Warriors Betting Preview

There is no doubt that Charlotte is playing some really solid basketball right now. The problem is, the Warriors are playing THE best basketball coming into tonight.

This season has been strange in the Bay. Golden State has had to deal with a noticeably declining Klay Thompson, poor defense, and the heartbeat of the team, Draymond Green, needing to go on a vision quest so he could stop assaulting people on the court.

Despite everything, the Warriors are a tough team to beat on any given night, and that is especially true over the last few weeks. They rank third in defensive rating over the previous 11 games and allow 114.6 points per game, which has shaved about five points off their season-long totals.

We are too far into the season for the defense to make significant changes, but it does not matter when the offense is producing at a high level. The Dubs are putting up just a tick under 125 points per game during this stretch and are shooting 40.5% from deep.

It helps when Steph Curry is playing like the best player on the planet, but with Thompson moving to the bench, this lineup is much deeper.

Hornets vs. Warriors Predictions & Betting Pick

Before the trade deadline, this looked like just another ho-hum game. Now, we have a battle of two of the hottest teams in the league, which should make for some excellent Friday night hoops.

Prior to the Hornets’ four-game winning streak, they had only won three of its last 31 matchups, which is comically terrible. This recent stretch does not indicate that all the Hornets’ problems are fixed, but it is hard to ignore how much more efficient they have been on both ends of the court.

The same can be said for Golden State, but are they actually 13 points better than Charlotte? Possibly, but the Warriors are giving too many points tonight.

The betting trends also favor a low-scoring game, which should keep this game tight. The under is worth consideration, but we will ride Charlotte as a double-digit underdog for our official best bet.

Hornets vs. Warriors Betting Pick: Charlotte +13

Hornets vs. Warriors Injury Report

We are still awaiting word on if Ball will return to action tonight. He has not played in the Hornets’ last 12 games but has returned to practice, and his return is imminent. As of Friday morning, he is listed as QUESTIONABLE for tonight’s matchup against Golden State.

On the other side, Chris Paul remains out but will return at some point during the Warrior’s upcoming road trip. For tonight, Gary Payton II missed last night’s win over the Lakers with illness and is day-to-day.
