Race 3 — 4 Casa O – It took a while for this gelding to break his maiden but he finally got the job done gong 11/16 at Fairplex and he did it in style as he lagged dead last but then was shot out of a cannon turning into the stretch and just shot away, winning by four lengths. I love these maidens that take some time getting their diplomas as the light goes on and they come right back to run big next time out. Trainer John Sadler will find the right spot for this gelding next time out.

Race 7 — #1 Dapper Gene – In this 40k optional claiming race at Fairplex, Gene looked to have a good shot at the Pedroza .90 cents on the dollar odds on favorite but he was squeezed and bumped hard as he got pinballed leaving the gate. Jockey David Flores had to take him back, losing several lengths; he made a three wide move into the second turn and had to shift wider into the lane but kept running to finish third, some four lengths clear of the rest. This guy will appreciate the Hollywood Park turns and his new connections will recoup some of the 40k claiming price next time out.
