SANTA ANITA
FORTUNATE QUEEN: Had been working well coming into this six furlong race at Los Alamitos TB but had no shot at the runaway speed. This filly made a nice four-wide run to be a clear second, more than four lengths clear of the rest in this straight maiden race. She ran on like a flat mile could be her thing. We will be using her as a single next time out. $$$$$
SWISS CHEESE: Broke sharp to press the early pace and then Chantal took him back while stuck four and five wide. He dropped back to seventh in this eight horse field but made a big five-wide run and was flying late to just miss by a half a length. Chantal had a big meet at Los Al, which sets her up for Santa Anita. She will be a live long shot rider, especially when riding for Kristin Mulhall.
TEN BLESSINGS: Finished a deceivingly good fifth in this 1-1/16 route at Los Al as he dueled while down on the inside. Came off the rail into the stretch and re-rallied inside horses to just miss the show by a head and the win by a head and a half.
NOTHING BUT A SMILE: First time starter for trainer D’Amato took plenty of action at the window in this five furlong sprint. She finished third in what looked to be a great prep for her to go longer. I say 6 furlongs or longer looks right for her next time out. $$$
AVICII: Ran a big second here for trainer Chris Hartman, who has stuck around since coming here from back East and that is a good thing. He is a top-notch trainer and looks to be getting his runners ready for a big Santa Anita meet. This filly should be one of his winners next out. We will keep an eye on Avicli and Hartman.
BERNIN SENSATION: Was exiting our HTW list and got the job done in this six furlong sprint. This colt has a ton of upside for Baffert, and being by Bernardini he will love longer, which he should get next out.
