GO FOR BEAR: First-time starter with the young bug boy Austin Solis, the youngest son of Alex ran a better-than-looked third as she kept coming to pick up the show dough. We believe this bug boy could come into his own very soon and it could be this Santa Anita meet as he is acquiring new customers.

LADY PAMELA: Ran a winning race but just failed to get up at the wire as she made a big surge late to just miss. She will love the move to Santa Anita and this race has her set up for the win next out.

SPOOKY WOODS: Mike Smith came in for the ride on this first-time starter for trainer Hollendorfer and this filly was just hammered at the Los Alimitos windows, going off as the 7/5 chalk in the $100k Barretts Debutante. She broke tardily and was dead last in this six horse field, but made a little late run to pick up the show dough. Hollendorfer must think he has something here and we will follow this filly, especially if Mike Smith sticks with her.

MIDNIGHT CANDY: Was eased back in this mile race as she saved ground down on the inside. She stayed down on the inside and looked to be making a winning move but just could not run down the front runners. Santa Anita will be right up her alley.

CALIFORNIA DIAMOND: This very tough 2yo colt trained by Peter Miller ran a great race here to get the win. He was reserved in the early going while on the inside. Moved out for room and had to go back to the inside but was forced outside. Once clear he just ran like a very good horse to surge away to win by 1-1/4 lengths. Lots more to see in this colt as the distances get longer. Kent D looks to have found a Kentucky Derby hopeful. $$$$$
