NOTE: Del Mar closes Monday, Sept. 5, Labor Day; Fairplex at Los Alamitos opens Thursday, Sept. 8 and will run through Sept. 25, Thursdays-Sundays. Santa Anita opens Thursday, Sept. 29.

LONGSTOCKING: Was going five furlongs on the grass and broke a little slow to be dead last until the top of the stretch, where she found no room and had to be steadied. She then was making a huge run but had to check again off-heels in midstretch. Got going again to just miss second by a nostril and the win by a length and a quarter in a race she may have been best. She will love going down the hill at Santa Anita. $$$$$

BERNIN SENSATION: First time the 2yo Baffert colt was sent off as the 3/2 favorite. He battled tooth and nail with the Peter Miller first timer but just got beat on the line in a head bob. No mistakes next time out wire to wire.

OVER PAR: Showed good improvement in this 1-1/16 turf route as he was making his first start as a gelding. Ran on nicely despite checking near the finish line. Did pick up the show dough just missing the place by less than a length and the win by 1-¼. He will be a solid play next time out.

SHAZARA: Took the worst of it in this 1-1/16 turf route as she was steadied when getting in tight leaving the second turn and again when checking off heels in upper stretch. Once clear she made a nice late run to finish a clear second.

HOT SEAN: One of two Baffert first time starters in this 5½ furlong race. Was sent off at 4/1 with his stablemate being sent off at 6/5. His stablemate won just beating him by ½ length with Hot Sean having a little trouble when stuck down on the inside. This one will be a great single next time out in the picks. $$$$$

VIVACIOUS BEAUTY: Was going five furlongs on the grass in what was her first try on the grass. This 5yo mare has had her problems but she showed some good ability in the past. She won this race and looks like a mare that will love going down the hill at Santa Anita. She may have found her game.
