SANTA ANITA

GOSEECAL: Very consistent filly had a hard time breaking her maiden but finally got the score in her 11th start when beating 11 other girls. She did it in fine fashion and should be able to handle winner’s next out at a fair price. Once these long time maidens get the win the light goes off and they tend to come right back with another good race.

HONOR AND COURAGE: Ran a winning race but just could not get by the lone speed with the stronger rider, Flavien Prat. Bug boy Roman gave it his best but lost by a neck while almost eight lengths clear of the rest in this 10 horse field. He will be a solid single next time out. $$$$$

OREGON: Was exiting our HTW list and getting his first try going long. He ran his race but was no match for the winner, Fortune of War, who was also exiting our list. The exacta paid $43.60. Oregon looks to be set for the maiden score next out going long on the grass.

HEAVENLY THOUGHT: First time starter was in the same race as Fortune of War and Oregon. He had a good work for this and was getting the super-hot Prat riding. He ran a big race and was closing late like a runner who will appreciate a longer trip. Look for this one to be very tough to beat next out. $$$

LIL GRAZEN: Was last seen running at Del Mar back in November. This filly ran huge here but had no shot at the odds-on Candy Ruler. She was almost three lengths clear of the rest in this 10 horse field and will be a solid play next time out.

DR. DORR: Trained by Bob Baffert and owned by his lovely wife Natalie this colt just blew them away in this $40k optional claimer. Looks like he can move up and repeat. Seven furlongs could be his best distance.
