POP THE CORK:The rains came at Hollywood and the so called all weather track was a mess especially down on the inside. That’s where Pop the Cork was and he had no shot. Toss this effort and look for a big run next time out.

UNUSUAL HOTTIE: Trainer John Sadler, known for his Candy Ride first time starters, sent out this Unusual Heat first timer. She was bet like a good thing and won that way despite being five wide almost the entire trip. Look for her to come right back and repeat.

BATALHA: Was exiting our HTW list and scored here big time despite trouble. She took the lead in the stretch and won going away for trainer AC Avila and jockey Chantal Sutherland. We will keep her on our list of next out winners. Keep an eagle eye out for this new trainer/jockey combo.

SPIRIT RULES: Paul Aguirre first time starter was squeezed between horses at the start and that usually means doom for a first time 2yo. He got to the outside and made a big time late run just missing by the bob on the line more than two lengths clear of the rest in this 11 horse field. This 2yo will be a solid play next time out. $$$$$

ROWDY GAL: There were some good looking prospects in this straight maiden race for 2yo fillies including the Bob Baffert chalk Princess Ash and the 9-5 second choice Vionnet trained by Mike Puype. Gal, a first time starter, sprinted away from the rest of these fillies to win by three open lengths. John Sadler looks to have just another nice looking young horse in his barn. $$$

ZOE’S CAJUN: Back in form for trainer Mason and sitting on a big time run next time out. The price will be right. $$$$$

ROCKINARZ RECRUIT: Talking about trainer Mason, he sent out this first time starter who was let go at 15-1 in the betting. He ran a winning race, but had no shot at running down the Baze chalk. Still, was a clear second with the look of a next out winner. $$$

ROMANCE IS SOSA: The duo of Hollendorfer and Baze put one over in this 8k maiden claimer. This first time starter won without need of the whip just inching away late on his own. He had plenty left to win in a very sneaky way. Will repeat and could be a nice single next time out.
