SANTA ANITA

DIXIELAND BLUES: Was coming back after a year on the shelf for trainer Marty Jones who can pop with comebackers like this especially on the grass. This guy was going 6 furlongs on the Hollywood turf, showing good early speed as he tracked the front runner from the bell. Could not run him down but battled tooth and nail till the finish. Lost by ¾ of a length for the win and nosed on the line for the place money. A very good prep for the 6½ furlong downhill turf course here at Anita.

CORENRE OFFICE: Will be a very good single next time out. He had no shot at the runaway wire to wire 7-5 winner, but was a clear second in this 12 horse field. If trainer John Sadler sends this one long, dig deep in both pockets and take a shot with some of the Christmas money. $$$$$

ROUSING SERMON: Ran a monster race in the Grade 1 Cash Call Futurity coming from tenth at the top of the lane. Stormed home like a runaway freight train six wide finishing fastest of all just missing by a neck. Looks to be a force on this year’s Kentucky Derby trail as he goes on the long road to Louisville in hopes of getting a start the first Saturday in May.

WALL DANCE: Was breaking from the 1 post in this 6½ furlong sprint and broke slow. Was dead last down on the inside and had to angle out into the stretch. Once clear he just blitzed home to just miss by a half length. Will be a very good single next time out. By the way he finished up, trainer Eoin Harty just may send him long. $$$

CONSULADO: First time starter was 6-1 on the morning line but got hammered in the last two minutes and was sent off as the 5-2 favorite. Ran his race out of the 10 hole, but could not catch the lone speed. Was a clear second and has the looks of a next out winner at Santa Anita. $$$

BOBBY FLAY: First time starter for trainer Bob Baffert was coming out of the 1 post and ran a nice even race. Made up some ground late behind second place finisher Consulado our $$$ above. This guy just may cook them next time out. This could end up a key race as we will be watching several in here.

CONGRATS SKI: Ran fourth behind Consulado and Bobby Flay, but had some trouble in a better than looked effort. He could be a real good price play next time out.
