SANTA ANITA

ROTHKO: One of several trainer Steve Asmussen shipped in for the meet. Ran a winning race except that ultra fast Factor was in top form going 7 furlongs here on the dirt a perfect distance for him. Rothko ran his race, finishing second more than two lengths ahead of the rest. Let’s hope we see him again before meets end.

MR.COMMONS: I have been following this colt from the get go and he just exploded down the lane. Won going away under a Mike Smith hand ride and a long hold late. Look for him to come back with another monster run next time going long on grass.

STONEY FLEECE: Bobbled in a very awkward start, then was taken down on the inside and really never picked it up the entire race. Toss this effort and give him a big shot to rebound next time.

MR. BOSSY PANTS: Was exiting our HTW list and going down the hill on the 6 ½ furlong Santa Anita turf course where he owns two wins. Make it three as he got up for first on opening day. We will keep him on our list going down the hill.

LAMM: Was coming off the layoff, but had run good in the past going down the hill. Made a big move, but got fanned four wide into the lane. Continued on willingly and was gaining with every stride just losing by a dwindling head.

INUIT FISHER: Was making his third attempt sprinting on the grass. A good effort as he sprung to the front and almost held. Lost by a long neck, finishing third well clear of the rest. This guy looks to be sitting on the win at a price. $$$

MIDNIGHT TRANSFER: One of two Carla Gaines runners on opening day and both had the services of Joel Rosario. This straight maiden won so easy it was scary. Has the looks of a colt on the rise, Carla and Rosario are looking for a big meet. We will follow this one and all her others with this hook up.

AMERCIAN BLEND: The other Gaines runner on opening day. This gelding was coming off a long layoff, but ran super in drawing away past the wire with Rosario. He is another who can come right back and repeat.

GOLDEN GATE

TAKE THAT: First time starter was steadied hard at the start and fell back to last. She came out for room into the lane and stormed home to just miss in a super effort. $$$$$

SCRIPT THIS: Trainer Steve Sherman pulled one over here as this first time starter won with ease, but trainer Clifford Delima was fooled as he claimed her for the $12,500. Look for another big effort next time out with winners.

WILLING WARRIOR: Really never got untracked in this race but was making up a lot of ground late in a much better than looked effort. Will be a real nice price play next time out. $$$$$

WHO’S GOT MILK: Had no shot at the runaway odds on winner but was a clear second. Has the looks of a next out winner.
