BODEMEISTER: Was exiting our HTW list and moving straight into the Grade 2 San Felipe Stakes, this colt was pressed the entire 1 1/16 distance losing by 3/4 of a length to Creative Cause a much more seasoned 3yo and one of the top Kentucky Derby hopefuls. Bodemeister was well clear of the rest of this solid field and will be very hard to beat next time out. $$$$$

VIONNET: Had a real good position down on the inside but got shuffled back into the second turn losing a position and some momentum, she was swung out by jockey Espinoza leaving that turn and he swung her wider in midstretch as she rallied for the place money in what was a real good effort despite the ride.

DIXIE IN PINK: Had a good position down on the inside, she was making her move when between horses leaving the second turn but found no room and was taken up hard when checking off heels, she re-rallied and made a strong late run just missing second by a neck. This filly will be a solid single next time out going long on the grass. $$$

ROMAN THREAT: I win every race Baffert unveiled a 4yo first time starter in this race and he beat the odds on choice in here going away, this late blooming gelding could come right back and repeat.

SPLENDED FORTUNE: Jockey Joe Talamo was getting a rare ride for I win every race Baffert, this filly ran a winning race when down on the inside but just could not get up and beat her stablemate the odds My Selection who held on by a half length, next time out she will be hard to stop down the lane.

MAGIC BEAM: Was 10-1 on the morning line but just was hammered at the windows getting off at 3-1, he got squeezed back at the start and was dead last and far back in this 6 furlong sprint, he made a strong late run but just had to much ground to make up finishing fifth beaten 2½ lengths while more than four lengths clear of the rest.

DEPRECIABLE: Was taking his first try down the hill and ran a strange race as he was close up early but then was taken to the rail by Bejarano and fell back to seventh, he swung out in midstretch bothering two horses and surged late for the win. Any other jockey with the exception of Rosario would have come down but these stewards who rule not by the rules but by what they want to do left him up.

JAIRZIHNO: Just one day late this guy made the exact same move as the Bejarano made on the horse above but this guy had the very low profile G Ercegovic in the irons and the stewards said he is coming down and they should be ashamed but I am sure they are not. I guess in California if your high profile you can get away with murder, OJ and Robert Blake come to mind, and in the NBA the good players like K. Bryant can get away with a lot more than the low profile guys. I guess when the Santa Anita stewards are not making their calls at the track they must be serving on the 9th court of appeals or pulling jury duty. That’s just my opinion as I see everything through neutral binoculars.
