SANTA ANITA

OBVIOUSLY: Irish bred for trainer Mike Mitchell was going down the hill in a 6 ½ furlong sprint on the grass and showed good early speed. Battled head to head until the top of the stretch when fanned four wide. Came on again getting to the front but failed to hold off the 7-5 chalk in an outstanding performance. $$$$$

POTESTA: The first time starter was bet like a good thing but broke slow and was dead last until the half mile pole. She made a big four wide run into the stretch, but had no shot at chasing down the lone speed after gaining an easy non contested lead. Finished a clear second and will be a solid single next time out.

RICSPRETENTIOUSGAL: This maiden filly was making her third start and first going long. Really wanted to run, but the bug boy Eswan Flores took hold in a duel between horses. Looked like she was done, but swung out down the lane and was making up ground on the winner with every stride. Came up a half length short, but a very good learning experience. She will be hard to beat next time out. $$$

PORK CHOP: A lot of promise if he can ever break sharp out of the gate. Was next to last in this 6½ furlong downhill turf sprint. Again got going in upper stretch and came flying with a big late run to finish fourth. May need longer but we will give him a big shot next time out. A must use in the exotics.

WHAT A RUSH: Looked to have a big shot in this 6 furlong sprint on the drop. Had a good spot in the early going but clipped heels and finished last in a non effort. This will insure a big price next time out for his new connections and we will take our shot that he rebounds.

CAMBINA: When the rains come they run and hide their heads. These rains hampering her chances as she had to come from far back. Tried hard coming four wide into the stretch, but way too much ground to make up. She ran a better than looked sixth, losing the entire race by 2½ lengths.

P THIRTY EIGHT: First time starter broke slow on this sloppy sealed track and never really got going. Look for a big run next time out on a fast track. The price will be boxcars.

BARON VON RED: Ran a super race against the bias on this sloppy sealed track despite bobbling at the start. He made a nice late run picking up the show. Look for a big run next time out on a fast track.

GOLDEN GATE

TURBULENT CREEK: Was off slow and far back in this 6 furlong sprint. Looked to be making his move but lacked room while down on the inside. Angled out and closed full of run like a locomotive, but came up ¾ of a length short behind the .60 cents on the dollar winner.
