AMBITIONESS: Was in from Turf Paradise and ran a good race at 5-1. She got the lead down the lane. Could not hold off the even money Mike Mitchell winner, but was a clear second. She was claimed by trainer Vladimir Cerin, who has been doing great with his stalk of late. This filly will be placed for the win next time out.

SO TEMPTED: Interesting that this filly has been running for a 16k price tag in her last two races, but there were no claims in. She now was in for 25k and was claimed by the sneaky Julio Canani who must have seen something he really likes about this gal. Needs a very patient ride. The two times Joe Talamo rode her he wanted to gut to the lead, which did not work.

R DOUBLEDAY: First time starter was coming out of post position 11 and showed good early speed battling tooth and nail for the entire 6½ furlong trip. Lost by a head when between the top two on the line, but more than seven lengths clear of the remaining eight finishers. If able to clear next time out she will be gone. $$$

ENGLISH PROGRESS: Second time starter never ran a step at over 100-1 in his one start at Golden Gate back in January. Now showed up in this spot for a new barn going a mile on the grass. I always ask the question why? He is by top turf sire English Channel and ran to his breeding by winning going away to pay $117.20. Look for this one to come back and run another big race on the grass.

AMERICAN TANKER: Was last seen in August of last year at Del Mar. Took some big action in this 50k maiden claimer but had no shot at the lone speed. Ran on to pick up the place money. With some pace to run at next time out he will get there.

PRIVATE BOUNTY: Looked great winning this 16k claimer going away while under a hand ride and a long hold late. Had plenty left in the tank and looked like he wanted to go around again. Look for a move up in class and a repeat win.

DESORMAIS: Well regarded 3yo colt was making his second start in the U.S. His first was a next to last place finish in the Cash Call at Hollywood last December. Made a big late run in this mile race and it should set him up for the win next time out.

ZANBO: Really wanted to be let loose as she was pulling her jockey out of the saddle. Was between horses into the second turn and made two runs, but just failed by a half length. This filly is ready to win, but must be let loose.

TROPICAL HEAT: Just had a horrible trip as he was blocked and steadied a furlong out when unleashing a big run. Had to swing to the far outside and came home fast while full of run. The winner had gotten the jump on him and he had to settle for second best.

TOP HAWKER: First time starter showed good early speed, but tired down the lane. He may not stop next time out.

TRAPPERS REWARD: Won for fun in this mile turf race. She will repeat with the move up in class for her new connections next time out. $$$$$
