GIVIMAWAY: Broke a step slow and was content to lay back off the pace set by the winner. He came out on the bend in this 1 1/16 route and advanced three wide. Got his nose in front inside the eight marker, but the lone speed gamely came back. Givimaway ran a winning race, but had to settle for second while more than seven lengths clear of the rest.

NOFTY: Ran big in defeat in this 6 furlong turf sprint finishing a game second behind the 5-2 winning chalk. This guy is in top form and sitting on the win.

MY SUMMER SLEW: Was in the same race as Nofty. Really had a troubled trip and got claimed by trainer Bill Spawr, who has been on a claiming binge of late. Look for Slew to come back in a good spot and run big at a price next time out.

DR. NIP: Was exiting our HTW list in this mile turf race. Broke slow and then got squeezed right out of the race to lose all chance. He has some talent so with a clear trip and maybe a drop back in distance he will get the win next time out at a price. $$$$$

WINDING WAY: First time starter ran a monster race for the hot training Carla Gaines. This filly looks like a good one and Gaines usually has them ready to run at Del Mar. We will keep this girl on our list of up and comers. She will repeat next time out. $$$

SALTY EVERGREEN: Colt was bet like a winner and ran her race closing from the far outside getting the win while pulling away late. This colt has the look for a real router and will just keep getting better as the 2yo races get longer. Trainer Jerry Hollendorefer looks to have a major player in the upcoming 2yo big races at Del Mar.

INDIAN CLASSIC: First time starter ran a bang up second behind Salty Evergreen. This could end up a key race. We will keep an eye out for this colt and some others I will mention.

STRONG WIND: Finish third in the Salty Evergreen race. Was very antsy at the gate and broke inward. Made a strong run to get to the front, but his early antics may have taken something out of him. Got caught late for the place money.

PLAYFUL COUNCIL: Also exits the race. Battled tooth and nail the entire trip. If able to clear next time out he will go wire to wire. $$$

ROSIE KYLE: Won like a good thing first out of the box while racing green. This filly has some talent and could come right back and repeat. $$$

TUSCAN QUEEN: Ran huge at first asking despite trouble and will be hard to beat next time out. This filly will be a solid single in the picks. $$$$$
