LUCKARACK: Old pro and past classer got back on track at Fairplex with a nice win on the dirt, drawing away by more than three lengths despite being squeezed at the start. He was much the best in here and there were no claims. Look for trainer Ted West to place him for a repeat win at Santa Anita.

COLUDA: Gelding has always shown ability and won for Bill Morey, who he claimed from Mike Mitchell for 10k. Mike re-claimed him out of this race at $12,500 for some sharp owners. Look for him to get a quick return on his investment. $$$

EQUITIUS: First time starter going 1 1/16 on the Fairplex dirt course made a strong five wide run into the stretch. Blew by his rivals down on the inside winning clear past the wire in a freakish effort.

BARES TRIPPER: Completely demolished this group of 2yo in the 100k Barrett’s Debutante winning for trainer Peter Miller, who captured his first training title of his career at Del Mar. This filly showed she loved the dirt and will come back in style at Santa Anita.

A DAY AWAY: Shipped into Golden Gate for trainer Eoin Harty looking for a grass race. He ran big at 6-1 in a starter allowance race despite losing two positions on the turn in this 1 1/16 route. You will see him at Anita going long on the grass and the price will be right. Longshot special.

STRIKING SPIRIT: Out of the Blake Heap barn, which has been sending out nothing by live items here and at Del Mar. Cruised home for the win in this 7 furlong race. He could come back and repeat. Must keep an eye out for this trainer’s runners at Santa Anita. He doesn’t run many, but the ones that do are usually live and spotted for action.
