INDIAN MAGIQUE: Was getting off the grass and dropping into a maiden claimer in this her third start. She ran a much improved race finishing second behind the odds-on winner. Has found her level and will see the winner’s circle in the very near future.

DR.SPIN: Was getting stretched out by trainer Neil Drysdale and made a big late run from last to second to pick up the place behind the 0.20 cents on the dollar Baffert winner. He looks to have found his game going long. We will hope Drysdale comes back quick with this one.

FANTASTIC MIZZ: John Shirreffs brought this filly in from Keeneland and she took plenty of action in this 6½ furlong downhill sprint. She ran her race but had no shot at catching the lone runaway speed. Finished a game second and will be hard to beat next time out. $$$$$

MISS COMMUNICATION: Mike Mitchell pulled off one of his best plays as he dropped this filly from straight maiden races to the rock bottom in the maiden claiming ranks in Southern California. Got the easy win and the bluff paid off as no one reached in for the 20k claiming price. Mike will find a nice starter allowance race for her and a repeat win. $$$$$

AXLE: Battled tooth and nail the entire 5½ furlongs in this 20k maiden claimer, but could not hold off the winner. Finished a clear second. Looks to be sitting on the win next time out at this level and distance.

FAST AND HARD: Was bumped, squeezed back and steadied hard at the start to lose all shot. Most at this maiden claiming level would have packed it in but this guy wanted to run. He regrouped and was making a nice move. When he angled in on the turn and got in tight had to check off heels into the stretch. He split foes and somehow surged late for the place in what was a real nice try.

BLONDE FOG: First-time Baffert filly was said to be a runner. She just blitzed out of the gate and stormed around this 1/16 course, winning by more than 12 lengths under a hand ride. Looked like she could go around again. No telling what the mighty Baffert has here. $$$$$

VINCENZA: First time starter could not catch the lone speed by finished second, 10 lengths clear of the rest. Will be a nice single next time out. $$$

CALL THE TEN: Was making up big ground when caught in traffic on the second turn. Blocked from the three eighths to the head of the lane and raced in check. Once clear she just had too much ground to make up and lost by a dwindling neck.
