(opens Saturday, Dec. 26)

NICOLE H: First time starter out of the David Hofman’s barn showed good early speed but just could not hold off the hot riding Joel Rosario who ran her down late. Nicole despite fighting hard was able to hold off the even money chalk for the place money in what was a very good try for this 2yo filly, she will be very hard to beat in her next start and could be a good single.

ZILLA: Was last seen in February running second at Santa Anita, she had a very good prep here when trying to close into some slow fractions but despite bobbling at the start and being far back she made a big late run picking up the show dough, this race will set her up perfectly for her next start.

APRISA LUNA: Ron Ellis first time starter was bet like a good thing and ran a wining race but just did fail to run down the lone speed by a dwindling neck. This filly can flat out run and may be stretched out to a longer distance in her next start.

STOCKINGS: This 2yo filly was highly thought of when she was unveiled at Del Mar, she ran well but did not get the maiden breaker and was given a little respite by trainer John Sadler. She came back in this race and was bet down to .70 cents on the dollar and won like an odds on horse should win like. This girl has a big future in front of her and we will follow her up the ladder. $$$$$

CHECKMARK: Maiden turf router ran huge in defeat being one of three heads on the wire despite trouble, he may have been best but had to settle for show dough. I would really love to see him go and extra sixteenth of a mile, if so just go to the window and take a good shot with him. $$$$$

MALIBU RUM: First time starter with good win early breeding popped at 49-1 and set off a $2 double paying $362.80. If you were an online GT subscriber you would have received this double on my daily horse bets.

VICTORY DASH: Broke in the air and was far back and looked hopelessly beaten, she sat back and came out on the second turn and four wide into the stretch, she caught the winner who had a perfect trip but just could not get the bob losing by a nostril in a big time effort.

LADY SCHNAPPS: Sometimes you look at a horse and say this horse just got to be a cripple, why the big layoff off a very good win and why the big drop in class, if she has three legs she wins. They come out on the track and she has four legs and just looks super but she should be 1-5 and she is 8-5, you sit an watch this girl win by six lengths while under wraps. There were no claims as the other trainers and owners may have been fooled as trainer Jerry Hollendorfer pulled one off her. If this girl shows up in a starter allowance race in her next start she will win.

JUDGE’S VERDICT: Just got the worst trip as he was getting a great rail trip but the jock pulled him back and then circled widest of all but it was to late losing by a length in a race he was best. Look for him in the winners’ circle next time out for his new connections and a jockey upgrade. $$$$$
