LUXURIANCE: Trainer Kory Owens who has a very good record with first time starters had this filly ready to roll. She was off slow and then bobbled just after the start. She really wanted to run, tugging jockey Tyler Baze between horses in moving up on her own to stalk the pace. Swung out on the turn and stormed home with a four wide run to win going away. Could come back and repeat.

SALAH CHAMP: Trainer Mike Mitchell had this one ready to run a winning race, but he was steadied hard when squeezed back at the start and lost all shot. Made a huge late run from last to finish clear second behind the 7/5 winner. Will be a solid single next time out at this level.

MIA ISABEL: Jockey Garrett Gomez had this girl all over the course and in trouble for most of the race. She ducked to the inside late and just failed to get the place by a ½ length. With a clean trip she will get the money next time out.

SAY OW: Was 15-1 on the morning line and was last seen running up the track at Del Mar back in September. He got hammered at the windows in this race and finally was let go at 5-1. Was making his run, but had to be steadied into the stretch and again in midstretch. Split horses and once clear finished with good energy just missing the show dough in a real nice effort despite the trouble. $$$

MIDNIGHT CON: Ran a better than looked fourth as he was bumped hard between horses at the start and bobbled. Was last for the first half mile and then made a nice late run to finish a solid fourth. This race sets him up for the win at what will be a nice price.

TIZ A MINISTER: Pulled his way into a tight spot and had to wait off heels leaving the backstretch. Split rivals on the turn, but had to wait for room again leaving that turn. He angled to the inside, closed strong and was pulling away at the end in a huge winning effort. $$$$$

ROCK OFF: Just had a horrible trip after breaking slow. He was steadied hard two times when caught down on the inside. Once clear he roared home, but was just too late. The lone speed held in a race that Rock Off was probably best. Will be a good single next time out.

HAVING ABIG MIDDLE: Big Brown filly was being sent long on the grass by Doug O’Neill in her third start. She ran a winning race leading from the bell, but just failed to hold off the 6/5 chalk by a neck. Was a clear second and will be one tough customer next time out. $$$

HOLLANITA: Trainer Steve Sherman pulled one off with this filly. She was listed at 9/2 on the morning line, but this first time starter was bet like a winner and did so. Pulled away with ease on her own by nine lengths down the lane. No claims so look for her to become claim proof next time out and win again.
