HEAR THE GHOST: Two of the top Kentucky Derby contenders on the West Coast, Flashback and Goldencents did not hear him coming as he flew by them in deep stretch winning the Grade 2 San Felipe. Now on the Derby trail.

EAST SKY: Lost a heartbreaker by the bob when jockey Joy Scott could not get by the 2/1 chalk down the lane at 22/1. East Sky was claimed by Mike Mitchell so look for a big time jockey switch and a trip to the winner’s circle next time out. $$$$$

HAWKEDON: Was the hot horse in this downhill turf sprint, but when he looked to be making his winning move down on the inside jockey Gomez lacked room. He had to check hard costing him any shot he had. This one only needs to break sharp and make a wide run next time out unless he goes long.

BOBO: Was in from Gulfstream Park and trying the downhill turf course for his new trainer Paddy Gallagher. He was on the rail which is a very hard spot in these downhill turf sprints. Got a good trip and held well for the win. Could come right back.

BENEDICT AUDREY: Was let go at 21/1 and ran huge. Opened up a length down the lane, but just failed to hold off the closers. Finished third, losing the place by a half and the win by a half and a neck. No mistakes next time out, but no 21-1. $$$

ENGLISH RHYTHM: This race was set to be run down the hill, but was put on the main. The track was wet fast (sealed) and this girl hated it. Finished far back, but will rebound big time when put back on the grass.

REAL HOUSEWIFE: Was coming off a layoff and made a big wide run but had too much ground to make up. Had to settle for mid-pack. Was claimed by trainer Doug O’Neill so look for a good spot next time out and a quick return on his 16k investment.

FARAYYA: Was exiting our HTW list, but the race was taken off the grass. She ran big, but just could not hold off the winner who snuck through on the rail. Was more than 9 lengths clear of the rest. Will keep her on our list as we look for her to come back on the grass. $$$$$

RAFALE: Another who was looking for a grass race but was let go on the wet fast surface. She just missed second by a nostril and will be hard to beat going long on the grass next time out.

KITTY MARIE: Ran an interesting race for a first time starter as she broke slow and then moved up on the inside. She dropped back, but came on again in the lane picking up the place money only a length behind the odds-on winner.
