MANGITA: Old school trainer Bruce Headley put four straight 7 furlong workouts into this first time starter for this race for 30k maiden claimers. She chased between horses, then moved to the outside into the turn. Got the lead in midstretch and slowly pulled clear at almost 8/1. Nice job by Headley.

FASHION STREET: First time starter for trainer Ron Ellis was let go at the betting windows at 17/1. She made a four wide run down the lane to be a clear second behind the odds-on winner. This girl has some run in her and will not be a maiden for long.

TIZ MIDNIGHT: First time starter for trainer Bob Baffert was sent off as the second choice. She broke slow and was far back in this 6 furlong sprint trailing the field until the turn. Made a big five wide run to be a clear third behind the aforementioned Fashion Secret. Would love to see these two come back in the same race. $$$$$

MISS PIPPA: Ran huge in defeat as she was caught on the far outside in this mile turf race. Usually on or near the lead, she had to be taken back to next to last in this 10 horse field. She bided her time and moved down on the inside to save some ground. Came out in deep stretch and making a nice late run to pick up the place money. Lost by just a length to the 9/5 chalk in a big time effort. $$$$$

BURNS TURN: Gave this one a big shot in this 75k maiden claimer going down the hill when let go at the betting windows at almost 9/1. She was inside, then outside and split horses in midstretch. Just missed the show dough by half a length. This girl can run and now will get a big time jockey switch of the big 75k John Sadler claim. We will be singling the next time she shows her face. $$$$$

ZUZU’S PETALS: First time starter for trainer Marty Jones was primed and ready to run with Joe Steiner in the irons insuring a fair price. They got 7/2 and the nice win. She can come right back and score.

TRIBAL CHATTER: Would have won on most days, but had the misfortune of running into Zulu’s Petals. She ran her race finishing second almost 9 lengths clear of the rest of the field. $$$

HORIZONTALYSPEAKIN: First time starter for trainer Carla Gaines ran a much better then looked effort at almost 11/1. She finished with good energy despite dueling wide the entire trip. He will be ready to score next time out.

SPIRIT OF LINDY: Took some action in this 1 1/16 turf race for 20k maiden claimer and ran a real good race. We look for him to get the job done next time out.

CHARMING KITTEN: Ran a super race finishing third by a neck in the Blue Grass Stakes. He will need a little help getting into the 20 horse Kentucky Derby field, but if he gets in we will be using him as a price play.
