CACAU: Just finished second behind the even money chalk last time out at Santa Anita going down the hill. This one has some big early speed and was more than 7 lengths clear of the rest of his field. Should be able to take them wire to wire on the 6 furlong Hollywood turf course. Single.
LILBOURNE ELIZA: Import ran huge going a mile on the grass in her first start in the U.S. for trainer James Cassidy losing the bob on the line. She will be ready for the win going long on the Hollywood grass.
PRINCESS PEARL: Just a horrible loss this filly took at 5/2 and our single in the players pick five. She bobbled at the start and was steadied hard into the first turn. Came out in deep stretch for room and surged late missing by a nostril. She was best today but the trip got her. No mistakes next time out and we will be singling. $$$$$
MIKEY T: First time gelding for trainer Mike Puype made a big four wide move in this mile turf race and was storming home down the lane. Just a little late in finishing third losing by ¾ of a length. Second time gelding will have his mind on the game next time out and will be one tough customer.
DONTEXTNDRIVE: Another first time gelding finished a nostril behind Mikey T last time out. Would love to see these two come back in the same race at Hollywood going long on the grass. If so we will be taking a big shot with the exacta box or the Q. We will use both in the picks. $$$
SPORTS REPORT: Ran big at 2-1, but just failed to run down the winner late. Was gaining late with every stride. Trainer Peter Miller has this one ready to win and 6 ½ furlongs could be his best trip.
JUST IRISH: Was coming off the layoff for trainer John Sadler. He made a big five wide run turning for home coming from last to third. With a better break next time out he could get the job done at a mile or longer.
GIFTING: First time Bob Baffert runner was working a hole in the wind and got bet down to .60 cents on the dollar. As luck would have it he broke slow and then bobbled. Tried to make an inside run, but got in tight checking off heels and for all intentions her race was over. This filly can run and will be heard from very soon.
RON’S RANGER: Just exploded down the lane drawing away very impressively at 6/1 against a very good field of starter allowance runners. This gelding will come right back and score again.
KATY’S STAR: Hesitated at the start and was last. She chased the leaders to the turn and then shifted in but was blocked. She eased out and surged when clear getting up at the wire with a very determined effort. $$$
