RED GLOBE: Looked very live in this spot after trainer Neil Drysdale put some excellent long works into this colt. He broke slow, came out to make his run leaving the turn but had to wait and checked off heels. Had to be swung five wide for room into the stretch and stormed home to pick up the place money. This one will be very hard to beat next time out. $$$$$
TOOMANYTOMATOES: Filly has been seen on our HTW list in the past. She is a very consistent runner at any distance and was claimed out of her last win by Cody Audrey for 40k. Audrey came to town with some big bucks behind him and has been picking up horses left and right. Let’s see if he runs them back or is depleting the California stables and head back East with most of them as he has done in the past.
PROVEN WARRIOR: First time starter out of the barn of Art Sherman ran huge at 30-1, finishing second behind the 7-5 Bob Baffert winner while almost five lengths clear of the rest. This one can run and will be right there next time out, but not at 30-1.
OUR BOY BENJAMIN: Was being dropped to the bottom after going a long time without a win. The drop did this one good as he battled tooth and nail with the odds-on winner while dominating the rest of the field. He looks to have found his level.
DONELLE: Bob Baffert first time starter exploded with a four wide move on the turn and just ran this good group of fillies into the ground winning going away by more than six lengths. She looks like a real good one for the master.
NO GAMES: First time starter for trainer Steve Sherman was best in here, but she just walked out of the gate and was at least four lengths behind the next to last horse and way back. She made a crazy five wide move and somehow almost got there at the wire, losing by a nose and a neck in a huge effort. $$$$$
RATHGAR: Was at a big disadvantage coming out of post position 10 in this 1 1/16 race. He did make a good bid turning for home, but could not go on with his run. Next time with a better post.
LITTLE PRINCE: Looked to be making a winning move, but got boxed in on the inside and had no place to go. Once clear he had to settle for the place money while more than six lengths clear of the rest.
TRICKY SHANE: Was exiting our HTW list last time out as a $$$$$ play and stormed home for the easiest of wins at 5-1 odds paying $13.20. We look for him to come back and move up to score again.
