(DEL MAR opens July 17)

J and S EXPRESS: Was claimed for 16k by trainer Bill Spawr from a low profile barn and brought her back for 20k – changing jockeys and giving her a turn back in distance. She was bet like the winner and won like the money dictated. Trainer Doug O’Neill, who is getting ready for a big Del Mar meet, put up 20k for the claim which netted Spawr’s owners a cool $21.400. Nice day at the races. $$$$$

MYBABYKIM: Jerry Hollendorfer first time starter was breaking from post position No. 1 in this 6 furlong turf sprint. She broke slow and was far back, but made a big wide run down the lane. Finished just a head behind the second place first time starter while four wide on the line in what was a good try.

GOODTOBEWILD: Was way too far back in this 6 furlong sprint for 20k maiden claimers. Jockey Espinoza really gave this filly very little chance. She did make a nice late run at the finish, but had to settle for fourth in a race she could have won. We will stick with the young bucks, but this one will break her maiden at Del Mar next time out especially with a new jock.

HUERA BONITA: Post 14 really did this filly in when coming off the layoff. She did make a wide run when trying to get into the race, but tired late when she could not keep her rally going. Finished a much better than looked sixth in the 14 horse field. Long shot special next time out.

DRAMATIC ALLAN: Ran a winning race finishing second behind the big dropper comebacker, who was best off the long layoff. Allan was well clear of the rest of the field and if able to get the early lead next time out he will be gone!

KINSALE KING: Ran huge off the long layoff and this race will make this one very hard to beat next time out at Del Mar sprinting on the grass. We will be singling when he comes back. $$$$$

YODEL UP A STORM: 2yo first time starter came out running, pressing the pace from the bell. Battled it out tooth and nail to the wire losing the bob by a nostril. This filly is a runner for trainer Carla Gaines, who always seems to have a good meet at Del Mar. We will see her in the winner’s circle when this girl runs there when the meet opens. $$$

VOLKONSKY: Was exiting our HTW list and being sent long for the first time, he ran a good race but could not handle the winner, MEYDAN MAGIC who ran super. He finished a game second and will be hard to beat next time out long or back sprinting. We will keep him on our list.
