PEARL DE VERE: Was in from Churchill Downs looking for the extra shipper cash. May have gotten it if not for her slow start and being dead last out of the gate, She then stalked down on the inside, came out for room and made a bid alongside the winner. Could not get by but held gamely for the show dough.
SHRINKING VIOLET: Wesley Ward, who knows how to win at any track and level, brought this filly in from Gulfstream Park to sprint on the grass in this 5 furlong turf race for a purse of 77k not including the extra shipper cash. She ran her race and got the good win paying $13. Could come back one more time for another win.
LADY ASANO: Trainer John Sadler had this comebacker ready to roll in this 1-1/16 route. She was listed at 5-1 on the morning line but got bet down to 5-2 at post time. She made an eye popping four wide move to blow by the field under a hand ride and a very snug hold late. Looked like she wanted to go around again. We will be all over her when she comes back. $$$$$
QUALITY PLAN: This 350k purchase bombed in his first two starts at Hollywood Park but put in a big wow run in this race. Won by more than eight lengths while completely under wraps late in beating her 9-5 ($575k purchase) stablemate MAGIC DADDY who was a clear second. We think both will come back and score next time out with Quality Plan most likely looking for some stake in his next start. $$$
TOM’S TRIBUTE: Some of these older riders just have a knack of finding ways not to win. David Flores rode this 3-1 shot who was best in here losing by a neck after getting stuck down on the inside and being steadied hard. No mistakes for this one next time out with a clear trip, but doubt we will get that nice 3-1 price.
CORSA DI CAVALLI-LIFE A RILEY–SOUTH FLOYD-SALAH CHAMP: All four of these ran together and this will be one race to watch. They could come back and win unless facing each other next time out with the exception of CORSA DI CAVALLI who won the race off a 2 year layoff. LIFE A RILEY ran huge to be second at almost 9-1 coming off the layoff and will be a good play next time out. $$$
YOUTHEPRIZEANDI: Was last seen finishing sixth at Golden Gate last October. This filly was listed at 20-1 on the morning line but some money showed. Low and behold the money was right as this filly won for fun drawing away by more than three lengths down the lane while under a long hold late. She could come back at what will be another good price.
ARTIC NORTH: Maiden was making his second lifetime start going 1-1/16 on the grass after an even effort going that same distance on the cushion surface at Hollywood. He took plenty of cash going off at 4-1 but got bumped early and then was wide the entire trip. Had nothing to offer late, but we will give this one another shot.
