BALLARD RULER: Never could get into the race after stumbling at the start. With a clean break next time out will get there off the long layoff.

SANDYS DIAMOND: Was in from Emerald Downs and ran huge at 24/1 finishing a solid second when checking off heels in upper stretch. This one can run and will be right there again next time out at this 25k claiming level.

JUAN’S CORAZONSITO: Finished mid pack after have just a horrible trip. He was bumped and jostled, but steadied hard past the five eighths pole. His jockey had to switch to the inside but he had to steady him hard again when in tight, Came out for room in the stretch but had little left for the drive. If this one gets a different jockey, we will be digging deep in both pockets. $$$$$

HOLDING GLORY: Trainer AC Avila likes to win races here at Del Mar and his runners usually offer a good price. Holding Glory was such a runner going off at 5/1 in this his first stateside start. Make a five wide run and just came up a half-length short while gaining on the winner late with every stride. No mistakes next time out. $$$

PRETTYPRICEYGIRL: Looked to have a big shot in here at almost 7/1. She was pulling her jockey out of the saddle, she had to come out for room but was blocked off heels and steadied hard. She angled back to the inside but still had no place to run and was steadied hard again and once clear she lost her punch. We will be playing her next time out. $$$

SUNDAY RULES: This first time starter for Mike Mitchell ruled a day early. She ran lights out going wire-to-wire by more than four lengths. Mitchell looks to have a real runner with this filly.

CHRISTOPHER STREET: Broke slow and was far back. Once he got into stride turning for home he came from last to sixth in one huge move. Was mowing them all down but his race was over in this his second start off the layoff. He will be very hard to beat next time out and the price will be right.

CRUCERO: Was in from Florida looking for some of that extra shipper cash and just failed to get it missing by a head on the line in a very game stretch run. He will get the job done next time out.

AOTEAROA: Was running in the last leg of the players pick five and was listed at 20/1 on the morning line. This first time starter had just so so works and a trainer who was 0-15 with first time starters and 0-5 with 2yo. Was bet down to 5/1 and won like a 1/5 shot. Info is a good thing in horse racing if you can get it. This one looked great on the track and ran to his looks. Could come right back and win again on the big move up.
