SANTA ANITA
HERECOMESKAT: First time starter just drilled these $50k maiden fillies coming from last to first in one huge move. She was claimed by John Sadler for the $50k so we will look for her to go long next out in a starter allowance race.
SHOW STEALER: Was let go at 21/1 in this straight maiden race for 3yo fillies. Put in a huge late run, coming from far back to finish fourth in what was a much better than looked effort.
HEAD SOUTH: We mentioned trainer Hector Palma last week and he put Kent D on this gelding. He blasted these starter allowance runners off the layoff by more than four lengths paying a whopping $25.40. We will stay on him.
FIGHTER SQUADRON: Was being sent down the hill for the first time after routing on the grass for a while. He responded with a huge win drawing away at the end. When horses take to this course we will respect them right back. $$$$$
DESERT GEM: Was last seen back in May of last year and was coming into this $30k maiden claimer with some sparkling works. Ran a good fourth and will be much tighter next time out. The price will be right.
YOUNG AND HUNGRY: First time starter with the connections of Gary Stevens riding for his buddy Tom Proctor just missed by a dwindling head at 7/1. No mistakes next time on the grass. $$$
CHEAP O CHARLIE: Came into this $50k maiden claimer as a first time gelding and was bet like a good thing going off at even money. He just failed to run down the lone speed and will be a solid single in the picks next out.
GOLDEN GATE
NAHEM: Broke slow and then looked to launch a winning rally but got caught behind a wall of horses. He finally got out and surged but it was too late.
PAPA KADE: Shipper for trainer Doug O’Neill ran huge despite trouble winning going away. He will repeat if left here at the Gate. $$$
