LOS ALAMITOS/DEL MAR

SMOOTH ROLLER: First time starter for trainer Victor Garcia was listed at 6/1 on the morning line but the barn knew what they had and they hammered him down to 2/1 at post. He stormed home in this 7 furlong race for straight maidens to win going away like a good thing. Look for the move up and repeat.

MASOCHISTIC: Was working great for the Grade 1 Triple Bend and he ran to those works putting in an eye-popping 7 furlongs in 1:20.2. The Breeders Cup being at Santa Anita again this year looks like his to win.

DIABLO CABALLERO, WHERE WAS EDDIE, HEAT, PROHIBITION REPEAL: These four horses were in the same downhill turf sprint and were within a half length of each other in a five horse spread on the line with Diablo losing the bob by the smallest of nostrils. Eddie was just a neck behind him with first time starter Heat just a 1/2 length behind Eddie and Prohibition Repeal a neck behind Heat. This could end up being a key race; we will be keeping an eye out for all four of these runners. $$$$$

PEFIOLO: Cheap claimer has a little run in him and the move to the Richard Baltas barn will move him up next time out.

CARNIVAL LIGHTS: Took some action in this mile turf race for $50k maiden claimers. She was far back in the early going but made a sneaky good late run, finishing fourth, just missing the show dough by a nose. The price will be right next time out for the play.

WALKING ON WATER: First time starter was going 5-1/2 furlongs in this $20k maiden claimer and came home fast. He ran like he will love to go long.

KUNGFUMAMBO: Was making his first start in the county and first since running in Peru in 2012. Miller had him ready as he went wire to wire and we will be interested where this one shows up next time out.

MISS GIFTED: First time starter for trainer Abrams was let go at 18-1 in this $50k maiden claimer for fillies and mares. She blasted home going down the hill to win going away. Trainer John Sadler must have known something as he put up the $S50k for the claim. Look for this filly to go long in a claim proof starter allowance race next time out.
