DEL MAR

GUSTO’S GAL: First time starter by the hot young sire J.P’s Gusto broke slow into stride and then got in tight while down on the rail. She did make a nice late run to be a clear third. This filly will not be a maiden for long. She may need an extra furlong.

SKELTON PASS: First timer for Carla Gaines was completely overlooked in the betting, being sent off at 16/1 He wins any other day but the live Gulfstream Park Richard Baltas comebacker ran huge. Finished second more than five lengths clear of the rest and will get his next start off the John Sadler $62,500 claim.

TRUE HISTORY: Was exiting our HTW list as a $$$$$ play and was getting his first try on the grass. She won going away, paying $11.40, and we will stick with her as she showed a real liking for the green.

ASPARAGUS: Exits the same race as True History and she was also leaving our HTW list but just had a horrible trip. She was four wide into the first turn and into the stretch. Found her best stride late just missing the show by a half-length and the place by the half-length and a nostril. No mistakes next time out. $$$$$

OH GREAT IDEA: 2yo first time starter was working good for this and finished a good second behind the Bob Baffert first timer who won easy. This filly showed good courage and is a runner.

WIN THE SPACE/SECOND SUMMER/ROSICKY/ MIXIO: These four exit the same turf race with Win The Space winning and Second Summer finishing second with a big late run. Rosicky was third, a nose in front of Mixio. We love all next time out. $$$$$

GUNSLINGER: Was last seen running up the track at Los Al in July. He came back in this $20k maiden claimer going a mile and just freaked, winning by almost 24 lengths. He was claimed by the hot training O’Neil who will probably put him in a claim-proof starter race.
