INSCOM: Took a horrible beat in this mile turf race for 2yo straight maidens. He got beat on the line by a nostril after the winner drifted some in deep stretch. There was an inquiry but the stewards made no change. INSCOM was four wide most of the trip but fired home to just miss, more than 5 lengths clear of the rest in this 12 horse field. $$$$$

PEACE: First time starter for Richard Mandella ran big in this six furlong race as he came on strong late. Had no shot at running down the lone speed, who was a very live first time starter for Bob Baffert with Drayden Van Dyke riding. Will be a force if sent long next time out. We will also keep an eye open for Van Dyke riding for Baffert in the future.

KENCUMIN: What’s happened to Rafael Bejarano? He was riding this guy and got a bad trip to say the least. Was in good stalking position but lost two positions at the ¾ pole, came three deep into the stretch and missed by a head while continuing willingly after the wire in this 1-1/8 mile race – one where he may have been best with a better trip. Bejarano is a better rider than this. Look for him to heat up, we hope.

TAPPED: Loved this filly in this downhill turf sprint coming off some big time works for Richard Baltas. With Big Race Mike Smith riding, he made a big four-wide run to miss by a dwindling head on the line when coming from last. She needs to be a little closer next time out to get the job done. $$$

TWEETING: Was getting her first start off the Bill Spawr claim; he put this filly on the grass going a mile with Mike Smith getting the leg up. Mike had this filly six wide in this mile race as it looks like he is a little saving ground shy of late. She ran ok late just missing the show by ¾ of a length, the place by ¾ and a neck and the win by less than two lengths. Let’s see a jockey switch next time out and the price could jump. $$$

SHEZA CHATTYKAT: Was exiting our HTW list and got a horrible trip with Bejarano on board. She was in tight, steadied a half mile out, then had to wait off heels in mid-stretch. She missed the show by a neck, the place by a neck and a half. She gets there next out with a clean trip.

MALKO: This deep closer is sitting on a win at a big price. He didn’t get the pace he needed here as the winner cleared early and went wire to wire. He came from last to fourth in a flash. A must use in the exotics going long on the grass.
