TEQUILA BLANCO: First-time starter was one of our daily horse plays on He got off at almost 12-1 finishing a very game second, paying $11.20 to place while 12 lengths clear of the rest of the field. He lost by just a half-length. He will be a great single next time out if left at this $20K maiden level going long. $$$$$

FIZZY FRIDAY: Bobbled at the start to be dead last in this mile turf race. She took to the inside saving ground and then split horses trying to make a late run but was bumped in the stretch and then had to take up when crowded. After that she just ran out of gas. Toss this race and give her a big shot to rebound next out.

INLAND EMPIRE: Really looked good when breaking her maiden in this mile race, drawing away with ease down the lane. This filly looks to have a lot of upside as the distances get longer. Mike Smith fits like a glove. $$$

NEXT SHARES, BOWIES HERO: Interesting even here in the Frank E. Kilroe Grade 1 Mile Turf race as both horses were on our HTW list and were exiting the same race in which they finished 2nd and 3rd. This was a great exacta as they ran one, two here with the exacta paying $230.80 for two bucks with the winner, Bowies Hero, paying $18.60 and Next Shares paying $15.20 for the place.

OPTIC: Was sent off at 60-cents-on-the-dollar and as the race gods would have it he broke in the air losing any shot. He tried making a late run after being steadied hard a half mile out but still managed to get up for the show dough. Look for a better price next time out and the win.

SELLWOOD, CAMPS BAY: Sellwood lost this race by a nostril on the line in what was a troubled trip; he was best. Camps Bay finished with good energy to be 3rd just a half-length behind the top two. We would love to see these two come back in the same race next out. It will be exacta box time.
