TEQUILA BLANCO: We liked this runner on our daily plays at He got off at 13/1 in this 11 horse field, was steadied at the start to be dead last, and then again midway on the hill. Was swung out four wide looking for a clear path and surged late to just miss by a dwindling head. He looks to really like this downhill turf course and should break his maiden next time out. $$$

LUCKY STAXX: Had some really good works coming into this six furlong $20K maiden claimer but got another so-so ride by jockey Tiago Pereira, who also rode Tequila Blanco. Got caught dueling four wide and then between runners. Had to drop back but rallied again to just miss by a dwindling half a length at 7/1.

JOYABLE: Ran solid going down the hill in this $25K claimer at 11/1. This filly looks ready to pop a big effort next out and the price will be OK.

MS WAKAYA: Battled tooth and nail the entire 1-1/8 in this turf route for $62,500 optional claimers only to lose by a head, getting beat on the line by the 2/1 favorite. Ms Wakaya went off at 24/1 and may have found her game going long on the grass.

THUNDERING SKY: Ran huge in the Grade 2 Royal Heroine at a mile on the grass. She went in tight on the second turn and steadied in mid-stretch, which cost her the race as she continued to battle on late to finish second, losing by just ¾ of a length. She will get a new jock next out with Rajiv Maragh going back East.
