SANTA ANITA

COPPER FEVER: Took all the cash in this downhill turf sprint for maiden fillies and mares. She had some nice works for Prat but he had this filly all over the course going out and in. Did manage to finish second and with this race she will be ready to score next out.

SPITFIRE: $35K claimers were going a mile on the grass. Broke slow, was bumped and squeezed off to be last in this field of eight. He made a four-wide late run to dead-heat for the place just a length behind the winner. Big race should have this one set.

SALSITA: Victor Espinoza loves wide trips and took this mare on a merry chase after being last in this ten horse field. He swung her out on the turn and five wide into the stretch, which cost her as she finished like a freight train to be a clear second. Look for Peter Miller to hopefully put one of the young guns in the irons next time out. $$$

SYMPOSIUM: Was in from the Gate for trainer Jeff Mullins and the hard-trying Tyler Conner was riding. We love Conner, who gave this mare a super ride, gunning her out of the gate in this downhill turf sprint at 53/1, just failing to hold off the 6/5 chalk by a neck while 1-1/2 lengths clear of the second choice. When horses like this course they come right back and run another good race.

SIR EDDIE: Love this guy going down the hill in the maiden special race for Dan Blacker with Prat up, but he stumbled out of the gate and had to be sent between runners. He went to the inside and made a nice late bid but came up a half-length short. No mistakes next out as we will be singling in the picks. $$$$$
