SECRETO PRIMERO: Was breaking from Post 1 in this downhill turf sprint and that’s not the place you want to be. He chased along the inside but got in tight and had to check off heels. Had to be switched out crossing the dirt but could not sustain a rally after the trouble. If he can draw a better post next time, upgrade his chances.

ENGLANDER: Maiden was going down the hill and really ran a big race as he was finishing like a freight train but just could not run down the winner who had opened up a three-length lead. Did close in fast to only lose by a length and a half. A must use next out as this guy is ready to break his maiden.

CAPTAIN BUZZKILL: Was last seen running at Del Mar last September vs. the likes of My Boy Jack. This was a great prep for longer on the grass. If we see him going a mile or longer we will be taking a trip to the window. $$$

VICTORY ELEMENT: We like to see jockey Van Dyke riding a first-time starter for Baffert and he was on this one who somehow got off at 15/1. He ran big time making a five-wide run into the stretch from the 11 post, closing like a flash to finish second, missing the win by less than a length. Look for this one to go long next out and get the win but we will not see 15/1. $$$

BELVOIR BAY: Mare just loves this downhill turf course and trainer Peter Miller put her in with the boys in the $100K San Simeon. She blew them away with an easy win. Miller is a master with runners going down the hill and this could be his next big-time runner.
