( DEL MAR opens July 21st)

PREMIER CRU: Trainer Bob Baffert had two horses in this race this guy who pulled off a gutsy win despite getting in a tight spot leaving the second turn paying $11.20 and his stabelmate the even money chalk. When Baffert has two in the same race the longer of the two seem to win so keep that in mind when they get to Del Mar.

TWEEBSTER: Was exiting our HTW list and was sent off at even money in this 11/16 route but could not hold off his stablemate the above mentioned Premier Cru. Tweebster could not have run a bigger race as he was pressed nose-to-nose and head-to-head the entire race and just did fail to hold by a neck but was more than two lengths clear of the 5-2 second choice in the race. This guy has some talent and will break his maiden in his next start, single will be the name of the game. $$$$$

RIBAT: 2yo first time starter took plenty of action but just had no shot at running down the lone speed after he broke in and got bumped hard and than bobbled at the start, he then got recomposed and stalked the leaders and made a nice late run finishing second more than three lengths clear of the rest.

POSITION A: In this 6 furlong turf sprint he stalked off the rail and made a big four wide run down the lane just missing the place money. Trainer Doug O’Neill claimed this guy for 50k with one thing in mind, the Del Mar grass. He ran good there last year and the astute O’Neill just does not give 50k away and he also kept part ownership. $$$$$

BODARK: Lightly raced gelding won this 1 turf race with easy and paid $15.60. If you are a website subscriber you would have received this winner and the exacta, so don’t wait subscribe now as Del Mar is right around the corner.

JAWS N’PAWS: Was exiting our HTW list and trying turf for the first time, she was also a top release here on the website as we stated she should really take to the grass. I cringed when she got squeezed at the start but she made a big rally down the lane and won going away paying $6.80. We will keep Jaws on our HTW list and she took to the grass like a duck to water, look for the move up and repeat. $$$$$

SCOFIELD BARRACKS: Was a step slow at the start and was last, he looked to be making a big move but had to wait when running up a horses heels into the stretch, one clear he came like a flash between horses and just did fail to get there. This guy was most likely best in here and will be a good bet next time around, at Hollywood or Del Mar.

BRENTHURST: Just love this claim for 25k by trainer Julio Canani who will be sending this guy out on the Del Mar grass and one of his main jocks Pedroza was on him for the win and will be on him in his return. Don’t miss this one as Julio just does not claim many. $$$$$

MALIBU ARTISTE: Need to lead type never got near the front and really never got into the race but she was claimed by A C Avila who can be very dangerous first off the claim especially if his main jock Berrio gets the ride.
