TROJAN SPIRIT: Paddy Gallagher maiden ran a winning race at almost 9/1 battling tooth and nail with the Bob Baffert winner only to get headed on the money. He came back on late to just miss by a dwindling head while four lengths clear of the rest. Sitting on the win next out at Santa Anita.

BLUEBERRY PRINCESS: 2yo maiden filly had no shot vs. the odds-on 50-cents-on-the-dollar blitzing winner who won this race by five lengths. But this filly finished second some seven lengths clear of the rest. Will be a nice play next out for trainer Hector Palma.

SENSIBLE THOUGHTS: Maiden filly going a mile on the dirt was stuck down on the inside the entire trip. Made a nice rail run down the lane, just missing the place money by a nostril on the line. Trainer Richard Baltas, who always has his runners geared up for Santa Anita, will have this filly ready for the win next out. $$$

ARROWSPHERE: $16K claimer went way too fast in the early going in this mile race tiring late to finish third. She was claimed for the $16K by Doug O’Neill who will have her spotted for a quick return on his investment next out as he did retain part ownership.

SUPER SOL: Baffert colt just blew this $40K optional claiming field away at 70 cents on the dollar when powering away down the lane to win by three lengths, and it could have been more. He really looks to want to go longer. Look for the stretch-out next time and a repeat win. Will be a good single in the picks.

CHRISTY JACKSON: We used this $8K filly as a single in our daily selections at She ran a solid second but had no shot at the winner, who got a lone lead on the front end. Will love going six furlongs at Santa Anita next out, maybe in a little starter allowance race or even a move up to $12,500.

Note: Keep an eye out for horses from Los Alamitos that were breaking for post 1 going 5-1/2 furlongs, Upgrade their chances at Santa Anita.
