SANTA ANITA

THREE POINTER: Was stalking between horses but steadied hard when in tight into the turn. Checked back, came off heels and made a nice late run. On this guy next time out with a jockey change.

SHE’SFITFORAKING: Big form reversal on the Santa Anita yielding turf course. She made a big four wide move into the stretch and flew home to just miss.

WARREN’S FLYER: Ran huge in her first try on the dirt. Was gaining on the winner with every stride. Next time.

SWEET CONSOLIDATOR: Was in from Golden Gate for trainer Jeff Bonde and low profile jockey Edwin Maldonado came in for the mount. She bobbled at the start but stalked off the rail and came four wide into the turn. Finished fast to just miss in a top notch effort. Was more than four lengths clear of the rest. $$$$$

EGYPT: 10k claimer was highly regarded at one time but never panned out. Has been spinning his wheels of late. Let go in this 1 1/16 race at almost 29-1 and made an eye catching four wide move. Just did fail to get up in a three horse ding dong photo losing the bob. Still may be a good price to be had next time out. Has the looks of a horse that loves the dirt.

JONES BROTHER: Calder invader for trainer Jerry Hollendorfer ran a much better than looked race at almost 10-1 when stuck down on the inside. Was close up in the early going, dropped back and came on in the stretch. No mistakes next time out and the price will be a good one. $$$

HOUSTON HARBOR-COOK INLET-RED SHARP HUMOR-HOPE AND BELIEVE: Houston Harbor was in from Churchill Downs for trainer Steven Asmussen. Took plenty of action against the Bob Baffert and our HTW alert horse The Factor who ran this six furlong race in a startling 1:06.98. And this was a straight maiden race! How fast is this colt? Houston Harbor was a great second with Cook Inlet third, and Red Sharp Humor fourth. Hope and Believe, a first time starter, also took plenty of action finishing fifth more than four lengths clear of the rest. Could end up a big key race. Will follow all four of these.

THIRTYFIRSTSTREET: Took the measure of the odds on Arresting Officer and looks to be a colt with a big future. Getting better and better for trainer Doug O’Neill.

GOLDEN GATE FIELDS

PERSONALITY KID: Was caught in traffic when making his move but got through. Rallied again through traffic and won going away in a good effort. Look for the Kid to come right back and repeat.

MAUI MAMA: First time starter for trainer Steve Sherman took all the money. May have been best, but for a slow start. Will be a good single next time out.
