SANTA ANITA

GENIUS LEVEL: First time starter took some action at the windows but was bumped hard at the start. Got in tight and was dead last before swinging four wide into the stretch. Flying late to finish a strong fifth in field of 10. Top Northern California trainer William E Morey was in town with some deep pockets and picked this maiden up for 30k. He may be heading North for the maiden breaker. We will be following him. $$$

MAYBE YES: This was the second horse that trainer Morey picked up Feb. 3, putting up 32k for this guy who won by a half length. It could have been more as jockey Gomez had a long hold on him at the wire, leaving a ton in the tank. We will be following him also if he is shipped up North. You can find all our HTW on www.gamingtoday.com on our Alerts so you never miss one. $$$

RANCHERO: First time starter for trainer Bob Baffert would have broke his maiden on any other day but met up with the dirt loving Brace Yourself. Ranchero ran second almost three lengths clear of the rest and will be a solid single next time out.

SHE’S VERY RARE: Was best in here, but when the jockey tried to get out there was no room. He had to angle back to the inside and when finding room surged late to just miss on the bob.

TOP DEBUTANTE: If you subscribe to www.gamingtoday.com you would have gotten this first time starter as our double play of the day. She won easy paying $16.80. We look for her to be spotted for action when running again.

PINK BLANKET: Was sent of as the 9-5 chalk against Top Debutante in this 75k maiden claimer. Ran a winning race showing high speed but could not hold off the fast closing winner. She was more than four lengths clear of the rest. Claimed for the big price of 75k by trainer Doug O’Neill for one of his top clients Michael Bello. $$$$$

REGALLY READY: Just crushed his opponents in this open allowance race going 6½ furlongs down the hill. Trainer Asmussen could have him sitting on a stakes race in the very near future especially if he can find one on the grass.

TIZ A BUDMAN: Was one of our selections in this straight maiden race along with the winner Sierra Spirit. We played the exacta, but the Budman got caught down on the inside in this 11 horse field. He took back and swung widest into the stretch and came flying home to just miss second at 27-1. This guy has some run and won’t be a maiden for long. But, the 27-1 is long gone.

SAMBA SCHOOL: Just loved this mare going down the hill and she won easy paying $9.20. We usually don’t like to follow a horse that is getting claimed off trainer Mike Mitchell. We will give this mare a shot for her new connection Jerry Hollendorfer, who retained part ownership along with one of his top clients George Todaro. But he needs to send him down the hill in his next start.

CADAZZLE: When I like a horse I always look to see if there are any others exiting the same race. I really liked a horse in this race and there were two exiting. They ran 1-2-3 with Cadazzle finishing a nice second at 5-1. We think she is sitting on the maiden breaker going long on the grass for trainer Thomas Proctor. $$$

GOLDEN GATE FIELDS

CASTLE DERMONT: Was best in here, but just had a bad trip. Missed as one of three heads on the line. Next time no mistakes, but needs a perfectly timed ride.

OHANA SPIRIT: Was blocked much of the stretch, but once clear he surged late to pick up the place. A winner next time out if he finds some pace to chase.
