PREAMBLE: Was a single on and also released on the radio show Race Day Las Vegas. He stormed home for an easy win paying $13.20. Trainer Dick Mandella was looking for a turf race for this colt but was moved to main track. We will follow him in next race and dig deep if he comes back on grass.

IN THE PAINT: Ran at Del Mar last year. Came back with a huge effort in the flat mile race, but had no shot at catching the runaway lone speed and HTW alert horse Coo Cachoo. Did finish a clear second more than five lengths clear of the rest. $$$$$

MONTELLANO: Just won scary in this 32k 7 furlong claiming race. Was dueling on the front end all the way into the stretch when he suddenly pulled clear all on his own and was on a tight hold late by jockey Gomez. This guy had a ton left in the tank and looks like a repeater next time out.

EXCELLENT NEWS: Another last seen running at Del Mar in 2010. This filly really came back to run a super race and somehow was let go at 10-1. Just failed to get there losing by a half length. No 10-1 next time but you could see her in the winner’s circle.

TAPTAP I’MGONE: We had been following this filly and she finally ran her race. Won under a hand ride and a long hold late by jockey Bejarano. We look for her to be spotted in a claim proof starter allowance race next time out and get another win.

A GOLDEN JET: Is exiting the same race as Taptap I’mgone. She was coming off a layoff and low profile jockey S Doyle had this filly all over the track. She was claimed by trainer Ted West so look for the big jockey change and a trip to the winner’s circle in the very near future.

HOME SWEET ASPEN: First time starter out of the John Sadler barn was let go at 12-1 and really had no shot against the runaway even money Carla Gaines’ first time starter. This girl did run a super race finishing second in a gutty effort. Will not be a maiden for long. $$$

SWAY AWAY: Was lagging last in the San Vicente Stakes but made a huge wide run down the lane and was gaining with every stride on The Factor who was .90 cents on the dollar. This guy will be a big factor as the distances get longer for trainer Jeff Bonde. $$$$$

CHOW MIEN: Just finished second in the straight maiden race going a flat mile losing to the 7-5 chalk. She was 12 lengths clear of the second place finisher. Will be a solid single next time out.

MAGNIFICENT BLEND: Lost a heartbreaker as my single getting beat in the bob by a nostril after a wide trip and just failing to run down the lone speed. He was claimed for 20k by trainer Diodoro who has a stable at Santa Anita. Could have a race in mind for him on the dirt.

TEENAGE DANCER: Checked hard into the first turn. Had to swing five wide for room on the second turn and checked again as a riderless horse moved right in front of her. Lost whatever shot she had, but still finished a game third. $$$
