SANTA ANITA

AKKADIAN: Had earned a big number in his first start going down the hill finishing second to the promising Mr. Commons who came back to win in his first start with winners. He ran back to that fig as did Mr. Commons and won this 11/8 race on the grass under a long late hold with a ton left in the tank. This guy will move up and beat winners. Looks to have some big time potential. $$$$$

METROPOLITAN MAN: He could not make the front end today when at 40-1. Went out and set suicide fractions, showed some grit and hung in there for the show dough. If he is able to clear next time out he will be long gone.

LADY ALEX: Took a big drop in class for John Sadler and won going away under a hand ride by more than six lengths. Sadler may have been playing a little claiming poker with this Mare. We will see if he brings her back in a claim proof starter allowance race. If so, we will single.

LEASE OF LIFE: This gelding was exiting a very fast race and now was getting stretched out to a more suitable distance. He went off at even money and looked like a bargain price. He won easier than it looked. Look for him to move up in class and repeat going long on the grass. A flat mile looks best.

TAPAWAY: Well bred Steven Asmussen first time starter broke slow under jockey Mike Smith. Smith took a tight hold but had to steady hard into the first turn. He then swung out into the stretch for room but Tapaway had no response. Look for this maiden to come back with a big run next time out. The price will be a good one.

EVENING JEWEL: Trainer Jim Cassidy must have been livid after watching the ride Espinoza gave this Mare in the Valentine Dancer Handicap. Jockey had her in trouble while locked down on the inside and this was just a four horse field. You had to see to believe it.

MY MAN SUMO: Is a real money earner and is usually there for a piece of the exotics. She finished second in here and was claimed by Mike Mitchell who will have him placed for action next time out. A must use first and second.

CHERRYZAPPER: First time starter displayed big time early speed but tired late. Next time out he just may forget to stop.

RIGOLETTA: Ran good as a 2yo and now was making his 3yo debut going down the hill coming out of the 1. That is not where you want to be. He did finish fifth in a field of 11 just missing the fourth spot by a nostril. This race did him a world of good and will be ultra tough in his next start.

SAMBA SCHOOL: Trainer Jerry Hollendorfer claimed this very hard knocking Mare from Mike Mitchell one race back. She ran her race again, but just failed to hold off the win machine Van Brit who caught her on the wire. Mitchell jumped right back in and claimed her back for 40k after losing her for 32k. He makes very few bad claims and really must know this girl is fit as a fiddle. $$$$$

SHE’S VERY RARE: Closer was badly disadvantaged on this speed favoring track, but she did put in a nice late run against the bias. Just missed the show dough, but will be real hard to beat from off the pace on a fair surface next time out.

GOLDEN GATE FIELDS

STORY BEHIND IT: Was one of my singles in the early pick four, which we hit at www.gamingtoday.com. Came back $36.80 and looks like a good play again.

SKY HIGH HATTY: Trainer Hollendorfer has been right on target with these horses he brings in from Florida. This filly kept that going with an easy win. We really want to see her on the grass next time out, if so we will single.
